WP4 - Therapeutic innovation targeting inflammation

WP4 aims to develop innovative therapeutic strategies targeting inflammation. This WP is multidisciplinary, involving in silico approaches, biology, and chemistry.

Based on new targets identified in close collaboration with other WPs and using bioinformatics, the first hits (the first molecules with significant biological activity on the target) are identified either using a rational drug design approach or by in silico or in vitro screening of chemical libraries. These hits are optimized via a hit-to-lead strategy to identify molecules with better biological activities, called leads. Additional pharmacomodulations are performed to optimize the efficacy, specificity, and properties of these compounds to lead to a drug candidate. The evaluation of pharmacokinetic properties (ADME-Tox) confirms the “drug-like” nature of these compounds. After several rounds of pharmacomodulation, the best compounds are evaluated in vivo on preclinical models of inflammatory diseases in collaboration with other WPs.

Once proof of concept has been established, the maturation stage is defined with the value creation stakeholders, namely SATT, Inserm Transfert, and Eurasanté.
